Castrol was founded in 1899 by Charles ""Cheers"" Wakefield as C.C. Wakefield & Co., with the Castrol name coined from the castor oil added to early engine lubricants. The company became Castrol Ltd in 1960, joined Burmah-Castrol in 1966, and has been part of BP since 2000. The UK Technology Centre is at Pangbourne, Oxfordshire. Castrol Industrial grades carry OEM approvals from major hydraulic and equipment manufacturers including Bosch Rexroth, Parker, Eaton, Sauer-Danfoss, JCB and Caterpillar, and are listed in 20L and 208L pack sizes, with bulk and IBC options on request.
