Most louvre-panel bins are dimensionally standardised — the bin's mounting hook fits the louvre-panel slot at a standard pitch, and most major bin makers use compatible hook geometry. In practice, mixing brands is usually fine, but minor variations in hook angle and bin width can cause poor fit. For consistent appearance and trouble-free mounting, specify a single brand of bin across the system. The bin dimensions and louvre-panel compatibility are listed on every product page.

Group parts by typical inventory volume — small bins for small fasteners, electrical components, and high-turnover small parts; medium bins for medium-size components (clips, brackets, sub-assembly parts); large bins for bulky or heavy parts (heavy fasteners, brackets, replacement-part assemblies). Standard small bins typically hold 1-5kg of fasteners; medium bins 5-10kg; large bins 10-20kg. Don't oversize bins — half-empty large bins waste storage space and make picking slower.

Common workshop schemes: red for high-priority items or critical-spare parts (fast picking when needed urgently); yellow for safety-related parts; green for routine consumables; blue for general storage. For service workshops, colour-coding by vehicle make or job-type is common (one colour per make of equipment serviced).
