By the component, not by a size range. The fitment on the listing states which housing or nut the socket engages, and only a socket cut for that will fit.

A cap socket fits over the end of the housing and is sized in millimetres, at 32mm and 36mm on 3/8 inch drive. A cup socket has flats matched to the housing, such as 74mm with 14 flats.

The listing names the marques. The 74mm 14 flat sockets cover Mercedes-Benz C, E and S Class and, separately, Audi, BMW, GM, Rover and VW, so the marque is checked rather than the diameter alone.
